Is the store you work for an authorized Meridian dealer??? Does your store sell new Meridian products?

(Meridian 808.2i) My money??? ""is on>> No you don't sell Meridian, (as an authorized dealer.)

So your job depends on selling Wadia products.... and to say things like:..

The Wadia 781i remains faithful to the original level of mastering quality (most SA-CDs are well mastered in my humble opinion). Compared to the Meridian 808i.2, the Wadia 781i sounds truer to the music with more PRaT and a tighter, punchier, slamming bass. Furthermore, the Wadia throws a wider and deeper sound stage with smoother transition in terms of unwinding the complex layers in mostly classical and jazz passages. This phenomenon also makes it a superior digital player than both the Meridian 808i.2

Might just help sell a Wadia CDP over a Meridian CD player.

You might not see a problem but I do.

I totally agree.
Having never heard both of these players, but having read quite a few write-ups of them, I still have no opinion as to which is better.

Having said that, I have a deep distaste for salespeople in general due to having met so many who know very little about what they are selling, and yet proclaiming that their goods are the best thing invented since toilet paper.
And toilet paper is less disposable than their opinions.

My deepest apologies to the few real salespeople who are genuine and who wish to sell their customers what they really need, and not what reaps in the greatest profit.

Maybe this is true for salespeople in general, but that is not my experience of those that specialise in the high end. Of course, even the experienced ones are trying to sell you something - that's their job.

It's not clear how many years Welly Woo has been doing this, or whether he is still learning the trade - if the latter, his boss may have an opinion on such posts?

Anyway, overall, I think that dealer (and manufacturer) input to this forum adds an extra useful dimension - as long as their interests are properly declared.

PS. From looking at the website, they don't appear to stock Meridian, or Resolution Audio for that matter.

You could say Welly sold me on the oppo83SE.. And am grateful that he did. I think Mr Wu is very knowledgeable in this area. He goes beyond being a salesman. In the end he is just like us.. People interested in hi end audio, and spent a small fortune on his. I know some salesman, who just see it as a way to collect a pay check. Not knowing much, and could care less about the customer. I find small hi end audio stores where salesman are on commission that know the most and truly go out of their way to help. These are specialized hi end stores. I might have included Magnolia, but doubt it since they merged with BB. I work at BB with Magnolia, and theres only 1-2 salesman that really know what they are talking about.

Everything BB touches turn to crap. The Geek Squad was actually good before BB.. And I'm willing to bet Magnolia is the same way. It turns into buying accessories, warranty plans, etc, then focusing on the customer.Off topic a bit.

Anyone who works in the audio industry, whether registered as a member of the trade or not on here, should follow the rules set forth for such members. As Welly acknowledges his conflict, he knows, and acknowledges, his obligation under those rules.
