I decided to start designing and 3D printing my own headphones. I am aiming to have them be comfortable, repairable and easy to mod and tune. I will also be using widely available parts.

Model SH-2

Keep in mind that this just a prototype and things will be changed such as the suspension strap.

Ignore the bad print, hadn't properly finished tuning my 3D printer.

I forgot to add venting so it's quite a warm pair of headphones. Soundwise is just alright as it uses a 50mm driver. Not that detailed but overall usable. Not really an offensive pair of headphones as I made sure to tune out any harsh treble. You'd probably like it if you're a basshead.

A 3D model of the new headband design alongside some other earcup designs.

Some physical issues on the first prototype: Yoke unscrews itself due to bad design. No venting added, so can't tune the bass that much. Bad 3d print, fixed in later prototypes.

Other notes: Model SH-1 was a failure. Just a test on a fully open headphones. SH-2 is the one above. SH-3 will be an oval and will be an improvement on just about everything such as sound quality and comfort.

I am currently waiting for a new 3D printer since my old one died.

(yes, this was posted on reddit too)

Completely forgot about Head-Fi. But yeah made a couple of them. I even made a website if you're interested in getting one.
Uses a 50mm driver and just about every part is 3D printed with PETG. Just about all parts are modular. No glue, just screws and nuts. And no, it's not a fragile pair of headphones even if it's all plastic and 3D printed. The headpad is TPU.

The design is made to be comfortable, repairable and easy to modify. It uses a suspension headband and doesn't have a tight clamp. But of course, you can easily just swap out the headband for something smaller or thicker for a tighter clamp.

Since all the parts are modular and only require a screw driver, you can see that you can easily just change stuff around. The above closed back uses a different 50mm driver, different earpads, a thicker headband, and a different headpad.

If you're interested in a pair, feel free to send me a message!
