I think I saw a picture of that on Top Gear recently...correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they said it was a joint effort between VW and another comapny...can't recall who though...

I believe lotus is providing some of the parts but I may be wrong. VW is working on some really cool cars. Check out this Ecoracer...

Sorry, this is going to stray a little off-topic.
My father and stepmother just bought a 06' Jetta TDI. The salesman told them that the EPA cut off the importing of all of Volkswagen TDI cars to the U.S. for the next few years. That's pretty ironic since a diesel engine is cleaner than a gasoline engine in their natural states. Anyhow, has anyone else heard that?

They're much more efficient, but US diesels are dirtier than their gasoline counterparts due to the high sulfur content of diesel in the US. (Current US diesel is called "Low Sulfur Diesel", LSD for short.)
2007 models have tighter emissions specs on diesels. VW's diesels will pass using Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD), but using LSD in them will destroy the emissions system. The problem is that ULSD is supposed to be introduced this year, but due to loopholes, LSD will still be sold. Since LSD will destroy the emissions equipment in 2007 VW's, VW will not be selling any diesels until all diesel sold in the us is of the ULSD type.

The cool thing about the proposed GX3 is that it's going to sell for about 17K.

Sacrilege I know, but I want a GX3 with a top and A/C. (Hey, I'm in Texas.) A 2.1 speaker system and a small trunk would also be handy. I mean, might as well have some creature comfort/utility benefits over a motorcycle
