To Ichos' point, V202/V222 + Beyerdynamic DT-1770 Pro will offer all the deep bass that one could sanely wish for 🤪.

Regarding the warmth of various Violectric amps, as per Mr. Fried himself has explained what happens is that the very low harmonics are shaped so that even harmonics are most time a bit higher than the following uneven harmonics.
This behavior is more pronounced on the V280/V281 than the V202/222/226 and less pronounced on the V340/380/550. Add some similar kind of shaping to the higher frequency harmonics and you have an idea about the sound of the different families of the Violectric line. Frequency response is of course dead flat on all amplifiers.

They are well designed amplifiers so they are neutral and linear. Their bass is very punchy and dynamic but of course dead flat regarding the frequency response. So if you own bass head headphones they are going to blow them away and make them sound very enjoyable for you.
I agree, violectric/L.P. amps don't invent bass where there isn't any. Even a good DAC should not accentuate the low frequencies.

Is the V222 a good choice for Arya Stealth, Focal Clear OG and DCA Aeon 2 Noire?
I'm looking at some options for a new amp.

Just tested Oh Dear and the V222 shines with a blacker background. The V280 sounds so smooth and warm with details to match, but there is a touch more bloom compared to the V222 which you may not prefer. Great song by the way! I need to add this to my playlist.

In Violectric we trust. I still think the V222 is amazing for bass heads, so far it's the been the best for EDM as it can do all the things (bass extension and slam, quickest transients with super clear highs that aren't too fatiguing). If you want more of an overly warm and "bloomy" sound signature then you may like the previous Vio lineup more.
That was fast :k701smile: Thanks for the comparison! This shed a lot of light on 'new' Vs. 'old' Violectric lines.
Did you find V222 to be a bit shouty in the upper mids? In your youtube review, for V340 you mentioned upper mids are a bit extra, so I am wondering does the same apply for V222?
What DAC did you use for a comparisons?

The V222 performs very well on the planar headphones I own which includes the Aeon 2 Noire. It is the best solid state amp I currently use.
A couple other amps that do well in my experience with the DCA are the FiiO K9 Pro and the JDS Labs/ZMF Homage collaboration.

I see now Drop have the Lake People G111 up on their site. I guess this is a good sign for my long awaited V222 as it at least indicates to me that Drop and Lake People aren't in dispute with each other. Still patiently waiting....
Patiently? Not me my friend. I'm anxiously waiting.

I think part of my patience has come from the Gustard A26 and the Feliks Euforia that have made their way in to my system while I've been waiting for the Vio  But now I have no choice but to wait for the drop Vio because I simply cannot afford it at a higher price and if drop falls through I'll have to live without it.

I don't feel the V222 is shouty at all. Listening to it now. Using the Qutest right now but I usually switch back & forth between it and a Pontus or Venus II.
