Violectric V222 and V202

Oh, so sorry!
And where they fitted?

In a beautiful Bottlehead Crackatwoa. I confess, it's much easier to turn on my Violectric V200 than a tube amp. I call it my second setup, but it gets most use due to its practicality.

I received the V222 yesterday, still testing but already quite happy with it.
Other units from Violectric had a "Lo-Cut" jumper tp shorten the capacitors in the signal path to have a frequency rage down to 0 Hz (DC).
In the manual of the V222 they state that there is now a protection circuit to prevent the amp to output DC. Does someone know if the capacitors in the signal path are gone now? I found two 3,3 uF Wima capacitors near the volume control, and in the manual they state the frequency range from 5Hz to 250kHz with -0,5dB, so I think they are still there?

Hello, I was looking for a good, non fatiguing headphone amp for my black screen HD600/650.

I'm currently trying a G111 mkII based on reviews I've read about it, and it definitely manages to drive my Sennheisers better than other amps I've tried without sounding too artificial, but I realized I would like a slightly warmer amplifier (and maybe more refined, although this one leans in a good direction).

Do you think the V202/222 might be the correct choice? Or maybe a (used) V200/280 is the warmer/safer choice?

I would suggest trying out the ifi Pro ican Signature, other than the already lovely Violectric amps.

Yes & Yes.

The only problem with used V200/V280 is availability. These rarely come up F.S.

I'm looking for a F.S. V220, and it never seems to happen...

For Sale (sorry!)

I should also add that I heard the stock HD650 and the heavily modded JAR650 on 2 Violectric amps:
  • Lake People G109-A (Lake People owns Violectric); and
  • The V281

They sounded wonderful on both. In my experience Violectric amps have zero problems not just driving high impedance headphones, but driving them to really excellent, refined sound. I own or owned three high impedance (300 ohm) ZMF dynamic headphones; all sounded wonderful on these same amps...

Alright, thank you very much. I guess I will probably go with a new 202 since it comes with a warranty, but the 280 seems very alluring given its reputation.

Thanks - my new V222 is not F.S. :dt880smile:
Still experimenting - but the stock HD650 does really sound nice with this amp. As DAC I'm using the iFi Pro iDSD in tube+ mode where I recently replaced the stock tubes with the (warmer) WE396A - really a nice combo.....

I may have missed it but, have you posted much feedback about your new amp?
I'd love to hear some pro's and con's. Maybe some favourite features?
