When I reviewed the V550 I didn't have the Susvara.
Now that I have them I am using the V222 and V380² and they blow them at just +6dB.
Sonic - wise, the synergy is amazing especially with the V222. It makes them sound fuller and very organic without treble sharpness. Best synergy from an ss amp so far.

I really wish I had kept my V222 and bought a Susvara too haha. The V222 did wonders for my Caldera.

Perhaps one of these days I can downgrade to the V222 and get myself a Susvara :)

Or you can keep your V550 and save for the Susvara.

I tested the Susvara on my V550, imo the V550 is too transparent to use with the Susvara, too bright of a setup.

The V222 sounds like it is a great match for the Susvara, it will push the mids forward and make it not fatiguing to listen to.

Instead of the V222 can a R2R DAC or even the Bifrost 2 (OG not 64) help in this scenario, just my 2 cents.

Thanks, I don't think I liked any R2R DAC that I've tried, I think the V222 is unique as it sounds like a SS and tube hybrid.
Either way, I want to stick with Violectric, I'm a sucker for those sexy volume pots. The only other Violectric I have yet to get my hands on is a V281.

I agree, V550 is too much of a good thing with the Susvara. Only for people who seek ultimate transparency and uber technicalities.
The V222 is perfect for the Susvara, very addictive listening.

OTOH, the ZMF Caldera+v550 is really, really spectacular.

Yup, my experience as well.
The V550 and my Caldera is a good match.

Just not for the Susvara unfortunately.

Practice has shown that the perception of the amplifier is very dependent on the gain used. Question to the owners, with what gain do you listen to headphones from the V550? Why are you using this particular gain setting?

In my installation, Holo May is connected via XLR to the V590 (used as an amplifier), the Vio is supplied with 5.8 volts from the DAC.
All headphones are connected to the XLR output. As a result, we get listening:
- Abyss 1266 at +6 gain.
- DCA Stealth at 0 gain. :scream:
- Fostex 610 at -18 gain. :muscle:

The magic power of dip switches.

Pregain DIP switches on the back, another perk of Violectric amps.
