Oh blimey! I pains me to even look at these. I love how they look, yet don't quite agree with the Grado sound, at least not when they're unamped

This is a huge dilemma I have had going on for as long as I have been registered here...

Fair enough. That would be the way I would go too (and eventually did go kinda) but some want those HP1000s at all costs, or an HE90, R10, Qualia, K1000, L3000, all of which are nearly or above 2k.

Who listens to top tier Grado's unamped? It's sacrilege!

I like the brown too. It is not any thicker than the newer ones (I've not seen a new new one say within the last 18 months but previous ones seemed to be as thick)

Just asked my girl to listen to my MS2i, 701s and vintage RS1.

and then i asked, "so, which one do you is the best."

She pointed immediately to the RS1s.

Flowers does wonders, well sometimes

Can you tell where you have got them from, if you like of course. Not flowers, RS1

It was a demo pair from a local shop...That pretty much explains why they look so beat-up. I had asked a couple of years back if they wanted to sell their demo pair but they firmly refused.

Went yesterday, tried asking, and surprise, surprise, they agreed to selling it.

Its obviously quite nicely burned-in pair, lol.

Every rs-1 I've heard/owned sounded smoother my old gs1k's... the gs1k highs were brutal with those bagel pads.

Biggie.
