How does Viablue stack up against Oyaide, Switchcraft, Neutrik, and compared to cheap plugs such as Neutrik plugs what makes them so much more expensive besides aesthetic qualities.  Also, is there a difference in the two sizes for their 3.5mm plugs?

The ViaBlue 3.5mm is a little harder to solder than the others as the solder tabs for left and right are quite close to one another. They should ideally be isolated with heatshrink or some other dielectric during the cable build. You'll also most likely have to build up heatshrink so the set screws have something to "grab" onto on the bottom of the barrel. The solder tabs are gold, whereas others use nickel in some cases, but I'd imagine most of what the money goes toward is aesthetics and build quality.
