Megatron is a powerhouse for the size and there's nothing like it on the market. It varies by driver sensitivity but I've found it works well with buds up to 300ohm. Not suprisingly, it's not built for IEMs and you'll get noise and zero volume play. You can use impedance adapters if you want but I don't like using those as I want to avoid altering FR on some of my BA sets.

Zen SL (via Defiant, with thin donuts) is a very balanced with a nice clean midrange and a controlled pinna that puts things in a comfortable position and not offensively close. It's still a vocal-centric set though, vocals male and female are lush and detailed. Staging is nice and wide and timbre is good. I'm going to do a Sunniva / Zen SL face-off as they both sit within the same price bracket. Also, the custom PK shell is bigger than some PK shells and how much you benefit will depend on your ear size but I still quite like it vs MX500. As for the pairing with Megatron, it feels well driven but definitely warmer with less transient control and macrodynamics. This isn't surprisingly really, all the marketing emphasises the potential for scaling. For the cost all-in of Zen SL & Megatron you could definitely do worse but I think buyers would be better pairing with RA2B-FE.

Thank you for the great suggestion. I will order these now. 👍🏼

Zen SL arrives Tuesday and Sunniva on Monday!!

Earbud mania! Both very capable sets for instrumental music. I still prefer APWS over Sunniva for my library, but I can't deny Sunniva is tuned to a great target that works across genres really well.

What will be your first source and album to put through APWS?!

APWS just arrived! I don’t see any markings to distinguish between right and left…any idea how to tell?

My source is LP6 Ti with Aroma amp stack
Probably some Avishai Cohen on ECM as I’ve been digging his work recently

Look on the very small black neck, it's written there!

Enjoy!

Def have to use the included air clips to get these to sit correctly but once they do! They are wonderful! More impressions to come after proper listening time

I never managed to get the air clips to work with APWS, you'll have to show me how you do it.

Not sure if this helps but this is the left one. I put it around my ear and then correct the bell to sit flush in my ear
Also…what are these? Came with APWS

Thanks. Yeah the air clips work much better with the bell-horn of the Zen SU and Sun series. It's much more difficult when you don't have significant neck to clip to.

So those are to go around the 4.4mm plug at its base to account for some inputs which require different insertion depth.

I switched to the final e hook guides that @ian91 suggested about a month ago. This is more ergonomic and comfortable and seating properly. I can shake my head around and they stay in position. Great!! 😃

Also these sound so smooth and silky with details, spot on timbre and beautiful sparkling treble.

Make sure to hit on some vocal tracks. I love what the set does with vocals. Gabi Hartmann on her self titled album is a good place to start! Baby is a nice, warm track.
