To me a value headphone is one that gives you the best bang for the buck. This means SQ exceeds expectations at that price point. So a particular headphone may give delicious sound but if it carries an atmospheric price as well, it probably is not a good value can. My experience is limited, but as an example, the KSC-75 delivers much better sound than can be reasonably expected at it's price point. Where as I don't consider the ER-6i a value IEM. The sound is what I would expect at that price point. Sorry, my experience is only at the lower end of the scale.

So I'm NOT looking for your favorite headphone.

I'm wondering what cans you consider to be great values?

Without a doubt Grado SR-60 @ $69.00. Give them a listen if you can.

Without a doubt the SR-404.
Really nice pair of headphones, which give most phones a real fight when it comes to sound quality. While still "only" let you down ~$350.

KSC75 ($15) and im716 (used to be $50-70) sounds too good for their price, especially compared to the competition in their respective price range.

SR60 can also be one if the KSC75 doesn't exist

K501 gets my vote for one of the best values although its no longer in production. It was commonly available for $135 near the end of its production and I got mine brand new (not refurbed) for $99. I can't think of anything close to touching that for value.

LOL I wish I can get them for 100$ - I would buy two!
Price went up as they became discontinued and are about 180-200 for NOS pair

essentially why I went with K701s instead.
When I tried (on a loan for about a week along with Ming Da) it was absolutely fantabulus with classical music + acustic guitars - but it lacked versitility of K701 so I went with K701 instead

Or you could just get the K501 used. I've seen the price rise recently, probably because of the whole "old headphones are great" trend, but I think they still go <$150 used? Or you could get the K401/400/500 that have similar sound.

I think the K240DF is an excellent value at or under $100. Sure you need a beefy amp to drive them, but for the headphone alone I think it's hard to beat. I'd like to say K240 Sextett but I haven't gotten one yet and the price is kind of high right now unless you look in the right places.

At a lower price range, the Sennheiser PX100 at around $30.

For me it would have to be:

Koss KSC 75
Koss PortaPor/SportaPro
JVC Marshmallow (HA-FX 33)
JVC HA-FX 55
Grado SR60
