V6 owner wishes to upgrade.

If you are asking for more bass *and* detail than the V6 you're basically asking for a phone that has both hyped bass and treble. Are you sure you want that?

Thanks for the reply!!! This place is great!

Well let me clarify some things for you guys.

1. I love the v6s. With good source (my cd player) they sound aewsome. With my sound card they sound dead and shrill. Nothing I can do about it though. Ugh.

2. I've got to keep them closed. At least as good as the V6s. There is a tv blasting about 10 feet from me most of the time.

3. I was not saying that V6s were lacking in any area. All I wanted is to have a WORTHWHILE upgrade. Something that I can easily tell the difference with. I mean I did not want to spend 300 dollars and only barley hear a difference. Thats all I meant when I said "better". Sorry for any confusion. It seems like my choices have been narrowed down to Beyer or Denon headphones. If this helps in your recomendatoins I would like something fairly easier to listen too than the V6. Like more musical etc etc. Thanks for all the Help!!!!

I would go with the Beyer DT250-80. The Denons are good, but I think the Beyers will give you more "improvements" over the Denons.

You're going to have to audition the phones yourself because only you can judge whether the difference in sound is worth the money.

You might actually consider purchasing a headphone amp to compliment your V6's instead. It will likely make a noticable improvovement in your sound card's sound ( but it can only do so much if the sound card sounds bad to begin with ) and it would also likely improve the sound from your CD player as well.

well stax has a new closed can!

but um... i don't think that would be a possible solution

anyhoo

yea um
denon ahd-950 sound like the glorified ksc-35 clip ons

they are mid-bassed and warmer sound (NOT DARKER)

V6 does have strong upper mids
and therefore has alot of details

I think the Beyere line is what you want
but remember you need a good good amp

I recommend for the 770 the headroom max

Just remember that cans that are 'easier to listen to' probably won't sound as detailed as the V6. The V6 were studio monitors designed with a frequency response that gave priority to spotting details and flaws in the mix over musicality...

I reccomend the DT250-80. A very sweet closed headphone, IMO better than the 770.
