V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I'm quite sure they don't ship the custom shields piece by piece, but rather in batches..maybe they don't even have enough logistics support in NY to ship to individual customers.

Regarding codec: would be very surprised if AAC is skipped this time. It was obviously easier and cheaper to integrate in the first generation than aptX, so I can't imagine any reason to leave it out now. Would interested to know what codec is used when connected to an AK380 via Bluetooth...

To me the much more important point is that there's no processing tricks involved to correct driver flaws, I.e. That it works even better when cabled.

It's still a stupid way of doing things. You make your customers wait for something so you can save a few pennies on shipping? I don't ship in bulk, but even I can ship something of the size and weight of the shields for under a buck anywhere in the country (USPS). Just seems like something they'd want to consider to avoid customer satisfaction issues. Because right now when I look at my order it has said "Awaiting shipment" for two days. I'm not surprised that it frustrates people. And I won't be surprised if 5 days from now my order still says "Awaiting shipment".

Oh, so you paid the extra $37 for 2-day shipping? That's deplorable on V-MODA's part. I've always opted for the Free-Shipping and it appears that their shipping and delivery dates have never been wrong.

I've only ordered an M-100, two pairs of XS, two audio cables, six pairs of customs shields, and a pair of Faders. All arrived in about a week. But since you "obviously" went for a pricier shipping method I can see the frustration.

I considered ordering faster shipping at time of order till I saw the costs :flushed: something I'm very curious about is why it now says "in transit" but then says that ups is "ready for package". Lmao like somehow vmoda got them to make the graph appear as if something happened when really nothing did.

I guess the world has been spoiled by the convenience of Amazon Prime. Anything that takes longer than a couple days is unbearable. I guess none of you have ordered anything from Gearbest, AliExpress or PenonAudio. I'm unsubscribing for a week until actual reviews start coming in because this is ridiculous.

It means V-moda bought a shipping label but hasn't given the package to UPS.

Excellent idea...
Waiting is not the most fun activity, I can understand that. Yet I think V-Moda does their best to ship orders out. In fact mine went from order to status shipping within 3 hours. USPS still has to pick up the packet though... plus the international transfer always takes quite some time. And the UPS options are just too expensive for a 300$ headphone.

I ordered the Gunmetal shields, the look of the original CF really grew on me. No engraving though.

"Unfortunately we don't have that information available." was the support team's response regarding codecs on the CF2W.

I'd buy them and try but they'd be going right back if they don't support AAC.

I do shipping at my work also and UPS only insures regular packages for $100.00 so they have to add insurance for the total value of the package which is 3 times over. I wonder if that is what is driving the shipping cost up?:)

Why do the rose gold hinges only add $20, but the (plated) rose gold shields add $550?

The rose gold hinges don't add $20 - the APT-X Bluetooth that comes only with the Rose Gold version adds $20

The point still stands, why does it cost 157% of the headphone itself?

It's frustrating because my m80s are already all black so I want these to stand out more.  The other models are essentially gimped so I'm stuck with rose gold, which from what I can tell, only looks good with black and rose gold shields.  None of the fiber/aluminum shield colors match the rose gold, so my only option for color in this already massive investment costs another arm and leg.

I would really like a rose gold fiber color option.  Doesn't have to be shiny, I just want it to at least somewhat match the hinges.

I noticed this as well when I was customizing my headset at their website. I ended up going with Matte Black because of how easy it is to customize it with numerous colored shields, but the Rose Gold, while a nice looking color, really only works with the Matte Black shield imo. Nothing else looked good. A black shield with their white writing on it didn't even look very good to me with the Rose Gold colored screws and hinges. If all you want is the plain matte black shields on the Rose Gold, not a big deal. But for those of us that would like Aptx in a matte black or white set of headphones, it's pretty disappointing that they're not making that an option. I'd really love to know why they did this.
