For the past year or so I've been using a logitech headset for my computer, and it had a built in soundcard(a not so great one, but it was fine for my uses). Well, now the right headphone driver no longer works and I'm stuck with onboard sound, which, compared to the cheap soundcard built into the logitech, is 10 times worse.

What I'm looking for is something just to get me back to that lackluster sound that was provided by my heaset(will be used 90% of the time for gaming and the other 10 for background noise while studying so it would be great if it wasn't a resource hog), I would prefer to keep it under $100. Another option I was considering would be another USB headset, but one with a longer warranty/ of higher quality.

I listen to a great deal of my Audio on my iAudio G3/grado sr60's, and I am very content with that for music.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

iCute one of the sponsors here sells a usb dac for $120 plus S&H, pair that with an amp and it would make a pretty good combo. Heck they have the iCute amp in three flavors at $170 plus S&H, one is even battery operated.

Oops, sorry I did not see your $100 limit. Perhaps someone else can give better advice.

If your expectations are only for 'lackluster' sound

, maybe something like this for non-portable times.

Would be nice to stick with a name brand like the one you suggested, but I also need a mic input, currently I have to pretty much have the mic in my mouth for anyone to hear me. but thanks for the alternative!
