So with Christmas coming around the corner i'm looking to get an amp for my newly purchased HD650s, i'm thinking the Schiit Valhalla (but am open to suggestions) but first is the DAC element.

Right not i'm using a Creative Sound Blaster Z with way too many connectors to pass sound to my Fiio e12 (Thus why i'm getting a proper amp

) but i'm wondering what would be the better option:
 
Use a Fiio D3 with my sound card's optical output
 
or something like the Schiit Modi to pass to the Valhalla and bypass my sound card?
