Hy, my question is commonly boaring, but I need recommendation. Recently I bought Ultrasone 2200 ule headphones, but can't say I'm happy. The high tones are too high and harsh for my taste, and bass is somewhat lacking. I compare them to AKG 240s, which are cheaper and sound way better for me - sound is very natural ( which I can't say about ultrasone) and pleasing, very detailed. Currently my headphones are directly pluged into soudblaster live 1024 sound card ( I know it is very old and obsolete). I compared akg 240s and ultrasones pluged into soundblaster hi-fi extreme music( my brother has), but couldn't say sound much improved.
So my question is : will I get much sound improvement buying external usb dac with headphone amp for ~ 300$? What would be your recommendations ( don't need any portability, music source - PC, and for my taste is wide soundstage with very warm midtones as AKG produce).

I'd like to say your budget is a bit tight. But maybe you would try for headroom micro dac. The dac part is awesome at least.
