Hi,

I purchased Etymotic Research Er-6 two years ago after I borrowed my brother's Audio-Technica A500 and I realised what a big difference quality earphones make over $2 earphones. Unfortunately, until recently I never managed to get a good fit and hence Er-6 always sounded inferior to A500.

Now that I can (sometimes) manage a decent fit Er-6 are starting to play up so I am looking at upgrading to better IEM.

Most of the time these will be used when I watch anime on my laptop whilst I commute to/from work so noise isolation is one of the most important factors. I don't actually listen to music but I love positional/3d/surround sound.

The FreQ user impression thread has got me so excited that I have already booked an appointment with Hearing Aid Specialist this Thursday to get impression of my ears. I just need help in deciding which model is suitable for me.

Will the number of speakers make a difference for me? If so, what difference? btw, how many speakers does Er-6 have?

Thanks for your help!

ER6 has only one transducer on each side. If you really like to get a custom from FreQ. I'll suggest getting the most expensive that you can afford. Though not always the rule, more transducers usually mean better separation in instruments and positioning, especially among the product of the same company.
