So currently I'm using the m50's and really like them, they just don't have as much bass as I'd like them to have (more bass impact). so today went to guitar center and tried on a couple headphones and am really liking the dt770 80 ohm... but of course I was only trying them with my phone and not going through my e10 which iI have at home. anyway, is the dt770 a good upgrade from the m50? any other suggestions to look into?

ITS A GREAT UPGRADE. If you think you liked them with just your phone you are in for a treat when you hook them up to a decent amp. IMO they are leagues above the m50. That being said what is your budget? There could be something higher end that you could afford.

cheers

Although I do not personally own the M50’s now, I do prefer the overall sound of the DT 770 Pro 80’s including the low end. I used to use a pair of the M50’s for work a while back.

I tried both when I was looking for my first higher-fi headphones.

The DT770s won.  I definitely prefer them.  You wouldn't be disappointed if you went with them.  They sound great alone, and amped they sound even better.

Right now on eBay I can get a new pair of the dt770 80s for ~170. My budget however... probably anrond 250 - it's just the dt770 in means of comfort and price seem to be an awesome bang for the buck

You can get them brand new for just slightly more than that (plus I think there's a 15% off online coupon.  Nevermind, it's for items over $299)
