Hello all! Hope I'm asking this in the correct place....
 
I listen to home 2-channel stereo with headphones about 80% of the time......current system: SB Touch, Nuforce HDP, Onkyo 8511 receiver(9 yo), and a 19 yo Yamaha CD player, Carnival 2 speakers(when used)....and Senn 595 and  a future Grado RS1 or RS2 purchase.
 
Since all source play thru HDP...where is my best upgrade?....just a CD player?...or both CD and receiver?
Budget for 1 or both is $2K to $4K......I guess the main question is will I notice a difference in a class A/B CD player and a basic one.

With that budget I would get the Audio-gd Ref-10 (with a decent amp like an Emotiva) and run the Yamaha and your computer through it, ditch the rest. I would then focus on headphones with the remainder of your budget.
