The HD580 or HD600 may be another couple of cans to look at. The HD580s are going for a good price at the moment.

Only about 2db less bass than the HD650.

iliketuna, I tried to put it short! I don't mean they're piercing all the time, just sometimes i'd like a more smoothness on the higher end!

Mark_420, don't 990 have overpowering bass?

And guys, why 650 are not so good choice for me?

What about 595?

Good question!!

I had done a lot of reading back before the HD580 became such a bargain, and the 600 was generally considered to be somewhat better although it was not mentioned exactly why.

But now that the HD580 is really quite inexpensive and a real bargain, the HD580 is every bit the equal to HD600 if the grills are changed to the 600 variety.

...I'm exagerating a bit, but lots of folks do consider the two to be pretty well equal to each other these days.

not much at all....the 580 is a great deal now. It isn't a whole lot bassier then the 595 though. You may find it as fatiguing as well: as it looks like you may be troubled with the 555's uneven upper mids. That doesn't go away with the HD580/600: they are a bit softer and bigger soundstage....but the tonality is very much like the HD595. Though all these cans are more refined then the 555, so they may seem less piercing that way. The HD650, if it's in your budget sounds like exactly what you're asking for: more bass and smooth mids.

Oh thanks for great responses.
BTW, Davesrose, from what i heard HD 650 have a more analytical, monitor sound, that can by considered lifeless, and HD 600 are more musical, down to earth feel. Can you comment on that?

And how the DT 880 and 990 for my needs?

First time that I've heard the HD650 is more analytical then the HD600

The main complaint with the HD650 is that it's too dark and bassy. If people don't like the HD650, I've never heard it was because it was too analytical. It's usually been that it's too colored. For my own tastes, it's not colored at all: it's warm because it has a large, believable soundstage.

Can you give some kind of review\comparison of 580\595\650! And what kind of music do you like?

from what i gather DT990 does not have overpowering bass. the DT880 is more neutral and the DT770 has the powerful bass.
