What exactly is supposed to happen when you use a cable with reversed polarity, or if you mix up polarity?I wouldn’t worry about polarity, as it really only matters that you hook up the left and right cable the same way. You can use any cable with qdc connectors with the OG MEST. Even if the standard “qdc” polarity is reversed compared to the OG MEST sockets. I’m using a cable with standard qdc connectors with mine.
So for example, say that:
---
Scenario 1:
Normally the IEM has the negative pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.
You use a cable that has the positive pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.
This is most likely to happen if you use an elbow connector. In this case, does polarity not matter at all, ever, for any kind of IEM with any mixture of drivers?
---
Scenario 2:
Normally the IEM has the negative pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.
You use straight connectors and accidentally mix things up: On the right side the negative pin is on the same side as the back of the head, but on the left side the positive pin is on the same side as the back of the head.
What exactly happens?
