I wouldn’t worry about polarity, as it really only matters that you hook up the left and right cable the same way. You can use any cable with qdc connectors with the OG MEST. Even if the standard “qdc” polarity is reversed compared to the OG MEST sockets. I’m using a cable with standard qdc connectors with mine.
What exactly is supposed to happen when you use a cable with reversed polarity, or if you mix up polarity?

So for example, say that:

---

Scenario 1:

Normally the IEM has the negative pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.

You use a cable that has the positive pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.

This is most likely to happen if you use an elbow connector. In this case, does polarity not matter at all, ever, for any kind of IEM with any mixture of drivers?

---

Scenario 2:

Normally the IEM has the negative pin on the same side as the back of the head on both the right and left side.

You use straight connectors and accidentally mix things up: On the right side the negative pin is on the same side as the back of the head, but on the left side the positive pin is on the same side as the back of the head.

What exactly happens?

To the fellow MESTers, if you find 6kHz peak a bit too harsh, try CP360. If you use the stock XELASTEC M size, then CP360 L-size will do the job. More rumble bass and good harshness control without sacrificing any of sound quality👍

just read your post and tried but its too small for the nozzle. I can't imagine how you put it there.

My technique is to pinch the tip tight at the end about 4mm away from the base and slide it across the nozzle almost horizontally/parallel with the first edge catching the nozzle rim. Eventually the second edge will catch the nozzle rim as you slide and then its just a little wiggle to victory!

My listening attention was obsessively directed elsewhere for the last week due to a new toy... I went back to my MEST MKII this evening after a hard day at work - absence certainly does make the heart grow fonder, a wonderful experience.
Waiting for a comparison vs the new toy, 😉

Soo..
I know i hate to be asked like that, but as i have had tough times b/n ie500 pro sounding great in its own right and Mest2 sounding so completely different, not only comparison btw, same goes to any multi driver, clair, Oracle, 3D vs any simgle DD ive had from Bayer, Senns, Acoustune etc,
Is the German new Maestro conducting his classical quality style gonna top all those Asian seducers🙂🤣

@UniqueMelody I found the stock silicone tips of MKII fits perfectly to another IEM, is there any way we can purchase it separately?
The tip with blue stem in the picture.

Another question, for those who live in Europe and ordered MEST from Musicteck: did you have any customs duties and taxes to pay?

I ask why it is very important, I would be right on the limit with the budget, if they also add taxes it becomes too much.

Try talking to Andrew from Musicteck, he sure will give you some indication for that

I really enjoyed further up this thread how users were sharing music which they thought showcased the Mest2's strengths. I listen to many genres (EDM, Classical, Jazz, Indie, Folk) and I've really been exploring the Scandi-folk genre over the last year too.

Elverhoy, Helene Boksle

The above album (yes it's a Spotify link!) is Elverhoy from Helene Boksle from 2006.

Even at 320kbps, every element is showcased superbly - soundstage all laid out clearly in front, bass slam, the plucking of the strings.

It's just magnificent!!!!

Do try it out
