Not to sound like a thoughtless troll, but the Alpha Primes are very detailed and very natural/ neutral sounding.

Alpha Dogs are $500.. pair them up with a decent DAC without digital glare and you will get what you are looking for. I don't believe in a major difference between the AD and AP.
 
I looked at the FR response chart and heard them both for myself. The AP has a flatter mid-range and overall better by a slight degree through the highs but not by a large margin.
 
There are people who think the AD sounds punchier than the AP so the difference is $300 you could save if you like the AD more which I do.
