I just bought a pair of Ultrasones Pro 900's.
They are the first pair of Ultrasones I have owned.
I have a pair of Senn HD600's that I like a lot.
I use them for work- video editing.

So far I'm digging the Ultrasone sound.
(but they are a bit heavy. Not as light as the HD600's)
at they fold up.
I will use these for travel and home listening.

How much of a difference is there between say- the high end pro 750/900 and the HFI 2200?
I wouldn't mind returning the 900's to save a few $$ if I can trade down without losing much.

x2 on the HFI-780. Also the HFI-680 seems to get favorable review. Northern Sound & light seems to have good prices.

Edition 9 that Subtle is selling. For $985 and more refined/balanced sound than the rest of the Ultrasone line, its the way to go =).

the OP said he wants to save money, not spend more.

Ya, I am helping him save money. He will end up with one sooner or later, if he likes Ultrasones. =)

And then he'll sell like many of us when he realizes it's not a $1K can.

I've never heard the 900s, and I have a soft spot for the holographic 2500s, but the 780s are probably the answer to your question.

Ultrasone website claims the HFI 780's are good for DVD and Gaming.
Does this mean they lean toward the "bright" end?
How are they with Music? Will I get a full rich sound?
I will not be using them for gaming.
Music and watching DVD's on laptop.

The 780 is a smidge brighter than the 750.
Both have great mids and bass.
I have both, and will keep both -- both are good SQ.
If I could only keep ONE, I would have to keep the 750, as the most neutral one.
But, would also be quite happy if the 780 was my only ONE.
Can't go wrong with either of them.
