Ultimate rock headphones

For rock music Ultrasone E9 are better than Grado RS-1 and GS-1000. More powerful. However GS-1000 with Black Dragon are only a bit behind. ATH L3000 and PS-1 I have never heard. But AKG K1000 could show you many new aspects – fantastic soundstage and inner space of sound, phenomenal naturalness and instruments separation, and even better, i.e. more natural, bass. They are generally more powerful than E9. That is only a matter of amplification, unfortunately very hard indeed.

To my opinion, only E9 from the list suit the term "rock headphones" well. I've never listened to ATH-L3000, but I suppose them to be quite similar to W5000, just being greater in every single aspect. So they are the best for classical, not for metal.
Denon AH-D5000 are great for heavy music, and I think D7000 will be even better. Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro quite cool also. Anyway, Edition 9 must be the best of this all, because they are in different category.

325is with a good amp and source.

Seriously, I was just listening to some classic Iron Maiden last night. Phenomenal.

(It was "Number of the Beast", if anyone's interested.

Out of everything I've heard so far ATH-AD2000 tops the list.

Do these have very hard impacting bass that can be felt and get your toes tapping?

If so then what about the ad900s and ad1000s. I don't know if I can afford the ad2000.

The AD2000 is to my ears not a bassy headphone. The quality of the bass is excellent, but there is not a lot of it.

It does however get my toes tapping
