The A500 will do the job well, it's only $110. Reviews i've read say it's pretty close to the A900 in sound quality too, at half the price or so.

I use the Beyerdynamic DT770 (with a Meier HA-1 amp). It's the best gaming headphone I have ever heard. The same bloated bass that makes it less than ideal for music, makes it great for explosions! Good isolation from computer noise and comfortable. It's hard to drive but for a while I used it straight out of the front panel headphone jack of an Audigy 2 and it worked OK. Cost new is right around $200.

I should add that I use 280s pros on my PC, they work pretty well for gaming, a tiny bit of music, and skype.
