Hi folks, my second thread! Woot! Once again I'd like to say that this forum is absolutely amazing in regards to knowledge and support. After thinking about upgrading my home system I decided to create the ultimate portable setup, within reason.
I will use a NJB3 most likely, but the Ipod, Ihp, and Zen are still in the running. For headphones I will use one of my three pair, the HD650's, the rs-2's or the MDR-CD3000's with a portable amp, or the Ultimate Ears UE-10 PRO (the point of the post.) I do not want a DAC, since I have heard that adding a dac to a portable setup is a bit of a waste, but if you can convince me otherwise, please do.
My dilemma is whether to spend nearly $1000 dollars on the EU-10 PROS's. If I decide to get them, I would not have money for an amp for quite some time. But, if I use my CD3K's I would buy an amp for the NJB3.
Clearly, the question is if the UE-10 PRO's are worth the money. Will they sound better than the amplified CD3Ks? Do they have bass that could even compare to the CD3K's? Or would I be happier with my CD3K's and an amp, and maybe a pair of Etymotic ER-4P's. Thanks again for any insight you may offer
