Do not, I repeat, do NOT EVER get a Stax rig...or orthos...

It's OK to get a Stax rig...the mistake would be listening to one if you can't afford it. Kind of like test driving a Porsche and driving back home in your Ford Escort.

Yeah dude, that can be a crappy moment. I dunno how many times I've sampled a new 'phone/amp/source, only to look down at my own $1k-$2k rig with a look that only the most disgusted step-parent of a red-headed child could ever iduplicate.

For what it's worth, you'll eventually find "your" niche sound sig. Oh, and by "for what it's worth", we're usually talkin' a good few G's here . Enjoy!

lol. Yeah. I've decided that after this, I wont be going beyond the $400 price point ever again. I'm going to stop listening to music for a couple days and try my IE8's again, and see if I can re-adjust to the sound. The W1000X seem to fatigue my ears after a while, so I'm debating if I should pick up a tube amp and try to warm them up a bit. From what I understand, it's not recommended to use a tube amp for low impedance cans, but ehh.

And you would probably be better off for it. Cables are rubbish and you would get caught in endless placebo-effect spending.

It's just spending too much money. Whatever, people spend money on all kinds of things, useful or otherwise. Just don't ruin your kiddies' lives, that's all.

Yeah, I have problems with the claims made for all the save-the-world cables. My profession is electronics, and I can well believe there can be differences between cables, but I'm not sure that the changes will always be audible, unless there is some egregious flaw.

But he can rest easy in the fact that his lifeless body suspended by those cables will improve the acoustics of the room...

What do you mean? After I get my DACMagic and Little Dot amp, my kids aren't going to be eating dinner anymore, much less have shoes to goto school in.

Shoes are overrated. If I had kids, they'd be walking to school in empty Kleenex boxes, paper bag clothing and aluminum foil sombreros.

wow. Quite spendy aren't we? Aluminum foil sombrero?!? I was just going to give them a paper bag from the supermarket to put over their heads.
