IMHO the stock SR60 looks best with the botton removed.

Right now I don't like it. They look like drain gaurds on a grado. What do they look like with the buttons back on? I think that would break it up a bit.

It reminds me of a WWII era headphone. Grados already look like the vintage cans, but this mods gives it the extra kick.

I can't imagine that sounds good in the least. I remember taking the plastic grilles off my SR60s made a big difference (for the positive) because of the increased airflow, and this is pretty much adding more on to them.

Did a little more work on them, and this time decided to make a halfhearted attempt at photography. The sanding job on the "after" is also a work in progress, I need to go to the hardware store tomorrow and pick up some finer grain.

Creative - but ugly IMO.

Silver painted Grado mod is still the worst though, especially since it can't be undone.

Next thing you need to do is find some small metal discs with slots radiating from the center to the edges, and set up two in each cup so that by twisting one over the other you can change the headphone from "ghetto open" to "ghetto closed" mode. The Grado button can be used to turn the one disc against the other even!
