Hey, I'm going to going to get a pair of headphones, the 6000's or the m50's and am torn between the two

Which one would be best for me?

I listen to a lot of electronic, trance, house music. With some occasional hip/hop and rap. Which headphone do yo uthink sounds better in these genre's, as i don't really care about noise cancellation or comfort.

I don't like the active noise cancellation on headphones for sound quality. I'm a pilot and that technology has done wonders in the world of flying but it doesn't transfer well into SQ in my opinion, and if you look at the reviews many share my opinion too. Based on this, I would never use this feature so you're paying for something you might never use. The cans do get nice isolation though with out the active.

Against the M50, at almost around 40% cheaper, I don't think the 6,000's are worth it.

The 6000's have a nice bass boost feature with the NC activated and a nice balanced sound with it off if you want that.

For your type of music I might go with something from V-Moda or they beyer DT770 80ohm?

There are better options, outside the two headphones in the OP.
Some of them, M audio Q40 or the HFI-680

Hello!

You are on the right track OP! In my opinion, the UE6000 is a total upgrade from the ATH-M50! You do not need a battery to run music on the UE6000 in passive mode. The Active NC are pretty decent but you do not need it, the passive are more than enough. It is also one of the best headphone for your music genre under $200.

Hope this helps!

NC on the UE6000 is pretty useless IMO.. it's basically a bass boost switch. Lol
But they do sound good.

I would go for the ATH-M50, as 1, it is cheaper; 2, why pay for functions that you won't use?  Also, look into the V-MODA M-100 if you want something even better.
