yeah i would say so. Its actually really well built box, thick aluminum and sturdy gold plated jacks on the back. The best part about it is the ability to switch inputs to outputs and vice versa. I use it to do all of my line routing on my desk. Comes with both rcas and 3.5 mm jacks on the back. Great product in my opinion.

nope, its completely passive, just switches inside

It's not transparent, it only comes in black and silver finish.

As for will you hear a difference using it vs not, just about as much as you would if you ran a really short and really crappy interconnect from one component to the next, that's about the difference in sound quality - audible? Depends on you mostly (your system and your bias).
