Just got my first tubed component (thanks MichaelFranks!). There's something comforting about that soft orange glow....

It definitely wouldn't be cool if SACD ended-up going by the wayside.

I've always felt components that have "Laserdisc" on the selector look funny.

I like that second pic with the tubes blazing! How do you like the sound of that amp?

it's a little too early to tell -- I'm still building out my system so I don't have a good source to connect it to. I sold the M-Audio Audiophile firewire a few days ago, so right now it's connected to the rather bad on-board sound of my computer. Even with the bad source, I do like the way vocals sound with the tube amp.

On monday I'll get the Benchmark DAC-1 and hopefully a soundcard with good digital out to connect it to. I'll post my impressions after I've had a chance to listen to it with a good source.

Also, I'm using the stock JJ and Sovtek tubes right now. After I get used to the sound I'll try swapping in the other set that MichaelFranks included in the sale (RCA and some other brand I forget right now).

Welcome to club tube. Where it's always warm

Here's a photo I took of my tubes that's the background image of my desktop.

Is that a 300B lan? It looks huge.

Yes it is indeed a 300B. It's the TJ mesh plate one.

It does look kind of large but that's because I took a close up image. Not exactly macro but as far in as I could go. You can see the higher res image here to see the finer details.

super size me

Very nice pic. Every pic I've seen of the 300Bs makes them look enormous.

Here's my attempt (half-size version):
