This has been discussed a lot i would think, and i have read and searched head-fi a bit. To save the hassle, will a YAMAMOTO HA-02 be a good investment to have with w5000. I would love to have some straight out answers from you guys, i would very much appreciate it. I know other tube amps are available, but is this combo good?

It seems to be one of the prefered combos when talking about the w5000. As can be seen in the w5000 amp registry. I've not had the pleasure of hearing such a setup myself though.

I know that the Darkvoice 332 has bad synergy with the W5000. The sound was very weighty and sloppy.

If I was buying a tube amp for the W5000 I would look for some degree of transparency. All tube amp's are going to have a warm coloration but it can get excessive.

I don't know if the Yamamota has a good degree of transparency, but I do know that their are limited tube-rolling options available if you don't like the stock sound. :/
Check the Yamamoto thread for more info.
PS: there's one in the FS forum right now

RSA Raptor with some sort of 5687 tube match very well with W5000 (and all of AT cans). It make W5000 has more body decrease a bit of transparency.

Its "just a guess" but... I would think the MAD EAR+ HD (possibly the new Super) would be great with the W5000s. The MAD amps are especially great with low impedance phones like Grados.

I'd owned the Yamamoto HA-02 for more than 5 months, and still have the W5000. I found this combo could sound too thin and harsh on badly recorded music (or it can be too revealing), and I never totally happy with this combo. I like DT990 or HD600 out of HA-02.
