Yes, but others have stated that I need to get a pretty good DAC/Amp to go with the headphones so getting the dt1990 and a decent amp/DAC will put me out of my budget of 700 max. Unless you can recommend one that's around 100-120$ that would be good with the 1990.

You don't "need"' a dac amp to listen to them. You might need it to maximise it's capabilities but I wouldn't bother too much about it first. Rule of thumb is to sort out your transducers first aka headphones.

Sounds good. So buy the 1990's and a starter DAC/Amp and then later on get a better DAC/Amp to improve the headphones. Thanks for your input much appreciated.
