Truthear Impressions/Discussion

Is anyone else having trouble with tips staying on the Hexa? I'm using Spinfit CP500s which give my a much better seal and make the bass right for my tastes but the darn things keep getting stuck in my ears because the seal is better than the grip on the nozzle. Wondering if CP155 or 145s might be a better bet in this case?
So random solution to this problem. I'm also a waxy boy and I remembered surgical tape with sewing needle holes makes a good guard. Also apparently makes tips grip better so not an issue anymore. Looks rather poor with the tip off though.

Yesterday I devoted myself to two interesting products. Zero Red and Hexa.
Considering the price, the Red sounds very authentic. Regardless of the price, the Red lacks resolution and attack.
I would go straight to the Hexa. In my opinion, they are much better!

Anyway, I'm very impressed with Hexa.
I've had some in-ears, that cost ten times as much, and didn't impress me that much!

I wanted to love the Hexa, but just don't find them to be that impressive. I had a love/hate relationship with them at one point, but overall I like my ER4SR, and Aful Performer 8 much better. The Timeless AE with a little EQ (-3dB on the bass) was much better to me too. I think the Hexa is good at $80, but not much more in my opinion. My biggest complaint was that they lacked any authority or tightness in the bass. My issue wasn't the bass quantity, but the bass quality.

Did you personalize the tonality?

I had tried some EQ. I don’t really feel that they need EQ though for my preferred tonality, but I had tried some.

I’m not saying they suck or anything, just that they don’t sound better than $80 should sound. I don’t think they sound like they should cost twice as much or more like some people have said. In my opinion they aren’t giant killers.

For what it's worth, if you're still interested in the Hexa I can report that they definitely require a break in period to sound their best. Initial timbre isn't that good, but becomes great once burned in. All the other positive reviews are correct, they basically sound neutral, inoffensive, and just right overrall.

The nozzle is large. But they fit well with smaller tips, foam tips, and spinfit cp155, at least for my ears.

But yes...now there is Nova coming out! I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this one.
