Hey all, I just got a set of Er-6is and I have two questions regarding the difference between the triple flanges and the foam tips.

1) Which will provide more isolation?

2) Which will attenuate more evenly? i.e If I were to wear while playing the drums (with the headphones not hooked up to anything), which would let a more natural sound through?

Thanks!
Sam.

Foam isolates more than anything else.

A great option for drummers is the Sonic II Hearing Protector. They're made for shooting ranges, and mostly block the initial attack. I used them in an attic where the walls were the roof, sort of a triangular room. The sound bounced around like crazy, and it was a blur--hard to distinguish primary sound from bounced sound. These things attentuated enough to clear up the sound. More important, it softened the loud crack of the snare drum. Saved my ears a good deal. Too bad they don't come in foam tips, but that might block too much sound. A steal at $10us.
