Very very interesting thread. Thanks a lot ValentinHogea

The most interesting of the list seems to be the RWA Audeze Edition, but it's 16/48 kHz limitation from USB is not very convenient since it need a USB-to-SPDIF adapter to get 24/192 kHz.   I sent a mail to RWA to see if they have a new "full 24/192 kHz version" planned...  Otherwise the RWA Corvina + a portable DAC may do the trick, but this becomes a 3 pieces solution (Source + dac + amp)

Hi bmichels,

YES - we are working on an upgrade to our Isabellina Pro dac that will allow for up to 24/192k async mode USB (including 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192), converted directly to I2S that will feed out galvanic isolator chip (that we currently use) and will feed our NOS and High Res dac chips.

No driver will be required for Mac, but a driver will be needed for Windows (which we will have on our website for download when it is ready).

This will become available for ALL Red Wine Audio products that feature our Isabellina Pro dac, and upgrades will be available for customers as well who do not have this.  I estimate it will be ready sometime next month.

Thanks for all your posts - this is a great thread!

Hi Vinnie!

Are there any plans to integrate iDevices into the DAC-section of your products? Or is it easiest to use a CLAS and feed out a coaxial SPDIF?

/V,

The least expensive way (that also gives fantastic results) is using the Pure i20 (which uses the XMOS chipset just like the CLAS) - fed from a 12V linear-regulated output from the battery supply in our unit.

And if you really want the best - send us the i20 to replace the internal switching 5V regulator with a linear regulator, along with a few other tricks we do inside - then you get the best sounding iDevice Transport that I have ever listened to (and this is what I use at the shows and meets).

NOTE:

1) Not sure if Pure has an i20 with the Lightning connector yet - hopefully they'll have an adapter in the future so you can still use it as a dock.

2) The built in dac in the i20 sounds pretty bad IMHO, but the coax output is great!

Hope this helps,

Vinnie

This will be perfect if ... the iPhone had enough room for our many high-res files, but with 64 Go only....

Forget the phone - the iPod is stock 160GB.  Plus - you can't load or playback anything above 16/44 files (Redbook) via
an iPod.  Still sounds great at 16/44!  NOS dac sounds very sweet with Redbook...

Vinnie!

What difference is there between the AMP/DAC in Audez'e Edition (excluding the phones and ALO-cable) and a Isabellina HPA with a balanced headphone stage (+500USD) and Isabellina Pro DAC (+500USD)?

/V,

Other than the front panel, knob, ALO cable, and custom case, there is no difference.  The AE is fully loaded (including 12Vdc out to drive Pure i20, Wadia iTransport, Cambridge, iD100, etc)...

So for 400 extra one gets the cable and a case (headphones excluded). Not too shabby...
Does the AE have variable output as standard?

The M2Tech Young Dac can take up to 32 384 through usb, I run it on a power traveller power gorilla battery pack using one of the power tips supplied at 16V. I am trying to run my Graham Slee Novo which outputs 24V on battery but this is proving a bit trickier-my Ibasso P3+ Heron sounds pretty good linked up to the Young though-just not as good as the Novo for soundstage , cleanness of sound.
