Kiiskinen, his response is one I would like to read...
My response is on page 4.
Yes, to each their own. But I believe that when discussing 'Top 5 Greatest Artists of All Time' we're not discussing your personal favorites, since that's completely different from being great. Or so I think, you're obviously free to disagree
Rakim is the greatest. Who comes after that depends on how one defines greatness.
Also, if you're looking to dig a bit deeper into the genre (beyond Gucci Mane or whoever), see the http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/214674/real-hip-hop-recommendations/ -thread. My list is on page 10.
Interesting Top 5 Greatest Artists Of All Time means what I posted....hope you like'd it
The Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff should not be forgotten.
Indeed, it's uncanny how few people know what Will Smith did before... Well, before the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He's always had a very unique style, and has always kept the lyrics clean and cheerful, which is why I usually recommend him to people. Also, first ever rap Grammy

Now this I did not know, I have one of his newer CDs laying around here somewhere, pretty good.
