An amazing recording - a debut on ECM, no less!

To anyone that might be interested, this week's Hearts of Space program is all-ECM with a spotlight on Norway. The program is called Eurojazz. Stephen Hill does these ECM-focused shows once in a while and they're always good.

Some of the artists highlighted are Tord Gustavsen, Terje Rypdal, Arve Henriksen and others. I think all you have to do is sign up with minimal info and you can play the show for free four times each week. I've got one of the free accounts and it's playable on PC, MAC, or Android or iOS apps.

A favorite!

Thanks to Bob for posting this one; I probably would have missed this little known release otherwise. I quite enjoyed it: dark and stark recording with beautiful guitar work and guitar/flute interplay.

I mean, the lineup contains some of the best ECM artists!

New to me album/artist. I liked it, but only in a 3/5 type of way. Nothing really special imo (maybe I need more than two listens!). Fwiw, allmusic liked it. I'd call this folk jazz/modern creative. I do have Tzur's debut ECM album to listen to as well.

Though I give this more than the 2/5 stars allmusic did, they are right that given the talent assembled here this should have been better. Still, an enjoyable enough listen.

It's over 70 here (with many warm--60+--days to come and some already passed), my neighbor is washing his car in a t shirt and shorts, there's BBQ in the air, and I'm out on the patio in a t shirt, jeans, bare feet and drinking ice tea...so now that Spring starts in Feb here :expressionless: I might as well listen to some music I associate with warm weather: Brazilian guitar jazz, by a master player.

More "fiery" than most ECM output; great stuff!

Released 2008

For me this album has that quality of quietness and space that allows concentrated listening or concentrating on another task while it plays in the background.

this is the only ECM album I have and still rock if only in the winter months. it is one of the only albums that has been in my top 20 favorites since pre-Y2K.APD.jpg

Nice selection and welcome to Head-Fi!

To be honest, 70-80% of my listening is background music.

Nik Bartsch's music is very unique. If I were to describe it, I would say it's jazz rock...with acoustic instruments only. He has several albums made for ECM; this is one of the best imo.

Just finished my first listen; a solid modern creative/improvisation set.
