After spending thousands of dollars on a engagement ring. Are you only suppose to wear it until you are married? Seems like a big waste, no?

Why would you think that? Most women wear the band and the engagement ring. My wife had them joined together by the jeweler.
BTW, if you are already grousing about wasting money, you are doomed. It has only just begun...

Don't forget the jewelry you're supposed to buy for every anniversary.
Have you priced out the wedding yet?
Unfortunately, I'm single and have no woman to buy rings and jewelry for.
My only option is to spend extra money on audio gear and travel.

Yes you wear both the engagement and wedding band on the same finger, unless your from the ghetto then you sell the engagement ring to fund the wedding band. And then after 6 months you flog the wedding band for your crack habit but thats another story.

I bought my wife a new wedding ring for our 15th anniversary a while back. It has it's own center and side diamonds so she only wears it and keeps the engagement ring in her jewelry box. I think if a wedding band (no center diamond) is worn, it is usually done so with the engagement ring. That's been my observation thus far.

Many women wear both, as some have stated, often linked together by a jeweler. I also have seen them reused as necklaces, earrings and reset into other ring settings. My mother, on her 40th anniversary, had both reset into a new single setting. As arthritis set in, she found wearing two problematic and uncomfortable. Some women just wear their wedding band. I fall into the latter as I don't like the feeling of more than one on a finger.

Good luck getting it away from her once it's on her finger.
BTW, you did get the traditional engagement audio gear from your fiancee, right?
