uh dogs are smarter than cats, they can be trained to do a lot of things, are used by law enforcement, and as guide dogs, etc. Yes they can poop everywhere and smell but that's if the owner doesn't train/take care of them. If you don't bathe a cat, they will smell too. Cats can't kill people, but they aren't always soft, fluffy, and cute. Sometimes they are moody and just scratch you/hiss etc. even if you don't annoy them.

Dogs are more human-like if we measure based on 'social-skills' and vocabulary. In this sense, as it's been said before, house cats are a 1.5 year old human and dogs are a 2 year old, thus smarter. Then again cats and humans have brains so similar, that more cats have been used for neurological studies than any other animal (the big difference is that human brains have a neocortex which functions as our center for speech and memory associations).

I think tigers, leopards and certainly lions beat dogs on nearly any test, so I say cats are smarter.

point taken, but remember there is more than one kind of intelligence. Even if cats have a brain structure more similar to humans and are used on more studies, that does not imply more intelligence, the definition of intelligence is already a gray area. I was talking about domesticated cats vs dogs not leopard/tigers/lions but even with regard to that I was referring more to practical applications. I guess social skills are a good way to put it, basically I meant dogs can be trained to do different things that help humans and can interact more with humans. I did not mean study their neurological activity or test them with obstacles and observe. Basically I was responding to that persons implication of "cat smart, dog stupid"

What nonsense is this. Cats do NOT need to be bathed. I have never, ever had to give a cat a bath. They all know how to clean themselves, and they all look and smell just fine. I've never even had or seen a cat that smelled bad. Some of my cats even smell pretty good!

Most dogs are just retardedly stupid.

They don't think for themselves, they just follow everything their owner does.
Cat's are more themselves.

When you get a dog, you own it. When you get a cat, it owns you.

Yeah, but a dog is very unlikely to stalk and hunt you down as food

If you hate cats for killing birds, I suppose you must hate dogs even more for killing people...

The bird was a pet, in my home. I was seven when this happened. Do you think this kind of event would make me like cats?

As for the dogs, as with cats, it's usually the owners that are the problem. Domesticated animals aren't supposed to roam free within the city limits where I live.

You've not heard of cats stealing a baby's breath and killing it? Cats are bad news around newborns.

Both have good and potential bad points.

You need help! Your repeated posts against dogs are not healthy.
