ThieAudio Monarch MKII Experience

I find crinnacle very helpful for his relative consistency. I might disagree because of relative preference differences (I'm not listening to heavily midcentric music or very interested in mids except for when I'm in a particular mood) but I can transform his ratings into my own preferences/ranking

After a couple hours of comparisons, i will say that the Symphonium Meteor have slightly better tonal balance than the MMk2 IMHO. The mids are more laid back but more open and dynamic. Using Tone Generator, the Monarchs 2 had more intense peaks between 2-4kh. Also the bass on the Meteor was going down to 17-18hz!
Judging with the music, a sharp recorded Genesis sounds less fatiguing with the Meteor (a better experience than with the Monarchs and u12t).
Due to the less congested and more laid back mids, the soundstage is more open. Everything is slightly more effortless, natural and dynamic.
Thanks for all your great description of the meteor, is the tonal sound similar to Z1r?

After a good listening of the MKII from a friend who own it with a A&K 3000, I intend to purchase the Monarch MKII to use with my A&K 1000 + A&K AMP or A&K 1000 + TU05 tube amp (and later with the Lotoo Mjolnir when available).

I wonder if some of you have used with succes an aftermarket cable ? Which one ?

Is it an improvement over the Monarch MKII's stock cable that seems to be quite good ?

Thanks

The stock Monarch MKII cable is quite lovely, to be honest. The main issue with it is comfort. The hardware is too heavy imo, so the IEM tugs on your ears. Especially the Y-Split. I would recommend the Kinera Leyding. Nice aesthetics, solid build quality, doesn’t tangle, very flexible and it’s modular.

thanks for the info about the Kinera Leyding. I looked at Kinera web site, and they also have 2 other "above" the Leyding range, available at price that are still reasonable: The DROMI at $ 200 and the GLEIPNIR at $ 300. Have you also considered them ?

KINERA DROMI at $ 200 :

I've heard from another person on here (I can't remember who it was) that the Dromi at least was not worth the premium. I am not familiar with the Gleipner tbh but it does look like a nice cable. I don't pay over $100 USD for cables my self as I don't think it makes financial sense to do so. However, if the pockets are deep enough, be my guest!

You can actually purchase the newer Thieaudio cable from the Prestige listing. After swapping around a few aftermarket cables for my Monarch Mk2, I settled on them after trying it out during Canjam SG. It's much lighter and doesn't really affect the sound. The branding is a match too, so it's quite a pretty set.

When they learn to make L-connectors?

I just ordered mine, along with this cable recomended by a reviewer.... I will report...

I hope to then be able to test them with the LOTOO Mjölnir which is next on my list for home listening. In the mean time I will use my A&K SP1000+A&K AMP.

Dunu L-connectors cables over stock MK2 cable. MK2 cloth braiding is nice, however, 2 issues are present:

1. Weight of the cable/carbon looking connector
2. The connector on the pin is too large
