The Ultimate HE1000 price speculation poll

Depending on where HFM files their income tax, some portions of R&D cost is tax deductable.

No depending on where they file their corporate income tax all of the R&D can be deducted from gross earnings as an expense. However, depending on how long the HE1000 has been under development they have probably been expensing the R&D over time.

THe ultimate troll would be if fang announced the price by "speculating himself" :D.

Isnt he doing just that right now? What else is this whole marketing campaign on headfi?

Like any other producer, they have a fabrication cost (including distrib, research, ads, etc) and they'll have to sell at least 25-30% above that to make a profit. That all-inclusive price is most probably lower than $1500. Possibly much lower. Everything above that is based on hype and various other marketing tricks to convince people to pay more. In a word: speculation!

Ultimately I am going to assume the pricing will be category leading fair. Look at the value the HE 560 represents, and before that the 500 and HE 6. Not much chance this will be under $2500, but it seems up to that price the 1000 will receive a pretty big surge in sales. I think it was the success of the 560 that has really gotten people excited about HFM innovation.
