The Swiss Head-Fiers official census

Dear fellow Swiss head-fiers,

I have a Raal 1995 Immanis on order, therefore I have decided to let my mint Hifiman Susvara go. It comes with two additional cables from ArcticCables.
In case you are interested...

Would love to find a buyer located in Switzerland as it makes the deal significantly easier :)

Guys, I know Zurich is expensive and I am now contemplating whether it is better to purchase a big tube amp here in Singapore and then ship it on my move to Zurich (around November) or whether it is better to buy from there. Looking at maybe a European brand like a Feliks Envy or similar. Is Zurich terribly expensive for audio?

As a Filipino guy who’s lived along the equator (Manila and Singapore) most of my life I look forward to moving to Zurich and I am sure I will be listening to my gear a lot during the cold months!

Are you moving alone or with family?

As mentioned aboved electronic items in Switzerland are not necessarily more expensive than in other EU countries (the situation in East Asia I don’t know) We have a good choice also with High End gear – but you may simply compare some items

If you intend to stay in Zürich for a longer period, you may better of buying here (Warranty, Service, possible re-sale, etc.)

Regards
Urs

BTW: The Swiss VAT is lower than most EU countries

Thanks, that makes sense. If I was gonna go for a Cayin I would get it here as it’s much cheaper in Asia but I’m looking forward to exploring the European options and I think you’re right, buying there will likely be better.

If you move to Zurich have a look at the shop K55. They have a very good selection of headphones and amps and offer good advice and service.

Yup. Make sure to get "invited" to their back room with the good stuff and the sofas. The main room at the entrance of the shop is not that interesting from a high-end HiFi perspective, if you ask me.

Back room is now right room. Bring your own player with your own music.

Hi everyone,

As I'm now leaving the hobby for good, I've got some last items to move (see my signature) — should anyone be interested, I always prefer to sell locally.

In the meantime, enjoy the ride! It's a nice adventure which brought me a lot of pleasure 😃

P.S. VagrantAudio.com will remain active until May 15, 2025.

I just realized that I’m going to need to update my big power cables!

Do you guys have a recommended place where I could get hifi power cables for switzerland (type J)? Or better yet, are there services that re-terminate power cables to type J? My expensive cables will be so sad if I can’t use them in Zurich’s wall sockets!

Perhaps it is enough to replace one power cable, the one to the power conditioner.
I would start at AudioEssence.ch. Tom is a very nice guy, may even have advice on re-termination.

When will you do the moving?
