The Spectacular Final Audio D8000 Pro - Review
Oct 21, 2021 at 8:20 AM Post #76 of 124
Having recently received a CMA Twelve Master, I must say that it is really excellent with my D8000Pro. The D8000Pro is held together by an iron fist in a velvet glove. The gain in resolution and subwoofer detail is clearly audible, the aeration and the spreading of the sound planes are really excellent as well as the timbres which gain in veracity.
This amp/DAC, relatively unknown, is for me as good as an XI Audio Formula S + power supply for a price almost 3 times lower (second hand).

was considering to get susvara when it's on sale but after receiving the many wise advices here that my topping a90 will not do the SUS justice and not likely offer much sonic improvement over my he1000se (unless i upgrade my amp) so i ended up purchased the d8kp when a japanese online store offered 30,000yen discount last week :smile_phones: very prompt shipping indeed and i received mine this afternoon.

very nice package and sensibly packed in a box much smaller than the giant boxes of ATH/hifiman/meze but seems the new batch all changed to a QR code serial # system and i can't find any serial # printed on the headphone itself.

i'm running it in a bit (though i dont believe burn-in for headphone in general) with the a90/d90 stack and will later test it with the portable gears i've on hand (CA1000 and m17).

BTW, i saw many articles mentioned that this is an open back design. but i look at it again and again and really cant see any "open" except the very finely perforated ring. and i tried to cover it still cant hear any difference at all.

a quick finding is that quite a bit driving power is still need for d8kp (with the 3m SE silver plated ofc cable) despite many said it's not hard to drive. my adx5000 sounds way louder at the same vol setting on XLR out of my a90 (600ohm, 100db/mW vs 60ohm, 98db/mW).

wear very comfortably despite the 523g weight. craftsmanship and design are both top notch no doubt. even the case screams high quality. it's much better than that comes with meze liric, DCA stealth or even focal stellia. absolutely love it :dt880smile:

listening for an hour or so evey evening the last few days through CA1000 or M17 in my bedroom. both have enough juice to drive D8kPro to a satisfying level, making it very easy to enjoy my headphones :gs1000smile:

one strange thing is i didnt see the user manual included in the sealed box. i downloaded the PDF version and only then learnt the 3.5mm entries to the headphone should be turned 90deg to lock! the soft case for the 1.5m cable also became a soft protection bag. the QR serial code can only be scanned using the japanese only final app (not available in other region yet . . .) so i cant register the product either) . quite a lot of difference from what i saw on review videos. maybe due to i ordered from japan direct?

I have bought my D8000 Pro from Germany from headphone.shop. It came with the QR code instead of the serial number. My pair of D8000 is one year older and it still has the serial number on it. So it is not related to ordering from Japan.

thank you! just wonder if your d8kpro also has no printed manual to come with?

Mine did not had one. It had only the warranty card with QR codes. You can easily find the manual here.
thank you so much! i dl already but mine doesnt have a warranty card too. the QR code is just on the black box with the direction to download the "My Final" app to register (sadly the app is only available for japan region).

the outer brown box is sealed, unopened when sent to me so i think it's not taken out by the dealer. the pictogram on the black box list the content only includes the headphone itself, 2 cables and carrying case so i'm not sure if it's missing in my package or it's the new norm. . .

thanks again for clarifying for me!

Besides the one you already showed me I had inside the box the following:

Mine is black and I have to thank headphone.shop and Thomas for making almost the impossible to obtain a black one in Europe. I have no idea why Final or its distributors do not provide the Black version in Europe and everyone sells the Silver one. In my case, my whole headphone line is black, even my D8000 is black and I wanted to have a similar Pro version.

Thank you for your quick answer.
My concern with audio46 is that delivery fees are very expensive...
Do you know if alternative brand exists ?
I bought a pair of G pads from Audio46 shipped to the UK. The quoted 21% additional tax/duty wasn't applied by UPS so you never know you might get lucky 🤞
