Sony released a new firmware. Be cautious if you have the Japanese version on the european device installed looks like it will install the European firmware again.

The link to the japanese firmware package is: http://info.update.sony.net/PA001/N...tents/0002/NW-A100_0001_V1_10_04_NW_WM_FW.UPG you can manually download the file. Put it on the internal storage and then start the updater (with WIFI disabled)

WOW, such a big file (800MB). Any changes log or release notes?

Received one of these a few days ago. Ordered the Hong Kong version to avoid the EU volume limit, which worked out to be cheaper as well.

Pairs great with my MDR-1AM2 while listening at about ~30-35%. Cranking that up to ~85-90% it drives my DT770/250ohm reasonably well too.

Unexpectedly (to me) I noticed it appears to support some kind of fast charging? Connected to my laptop it claims to need 1 hour and 18 minutes to charge the remaining 23%, more or less in line with Sony's 5.5 hours. Connecting it to my desktop computer (Intel NUC) this drops to just 19 minutes, quite a bit faster. (While writing this I realize this may be a cable difference, not necessarily a laptop/desktop issue. I'm using existing cables, not the Sony provided one. Will experiment more.)

Really liking that the EQ applies to all apps, not just the Walkman app. Some of the streaming/podcast apps I used don't EQ very well, or at all.

The ClearAudio+ feature sounds horrible though. A bit like an IEM dropped into a pringles can to me. Its description it pretty cryptic too. Not sure what the intended effect of ClearAudio+ is?

What sort of battery life are people getting with bluetooth now? Got a hiby r6 but fed up with the wifi and the size of the thing and looking for a smaller player. Need to stick with android so I can install audiobook support as this is sadly lacking in pretty much all non apple mp3 players now. Also can I get more than 8 hours a day out of a single charge?

Thanks

I know this is not the best solution, but at least this will extend the battery time of this little guy...
