The Reference 6SN7 Thread

I have these same tubes. The only difference I see is my tubes have Rogers printed in green.

I bought them pre pandemic from a guy in Vancouver. I want to say they were very fairly priced. It was a bigger buy for me because I remember he sold them as a lot of 7-8 6SN7s. I don't remember having listened to them at all. I'll have to look for them and give them a listen soon. How do you like them?
Update on this - turns out the amp I was using was biasing out incorrectly on the left channel - there was a failed solder joint on a resistor which I just fixed about 2 hours ago - these 6SN7 tubes are insanely good  might just be my favorite of all, even compared to the likes of Brimar_13D1 and 5692 - super glad I picked them up now.

Also, turns out when one side is not biasing out correctly, really can throw things off :joy:

Good news on all fronts. You know how those seemingly small issues can take forever to isolate and then to diagnose. Issues such as failed solder. Although I've been slowly teaching myself how to be handy in the world of audio. Learning to solder as an example... I still have a couple of real certified amp techs who I trust. Living in Los Angeles has its benefits. With a large population of creative musicians in the city, we have access to some really outstanding amp techs. Regardless glad it all worked out for you.

Regarding the Rogers Canada 6SN7s, I look forward to pulling mine from my stash here in the next week or two and giving them a listen. It always amazes me how sometimes ones hearing and impressions can change over time. Again I've not heard these before. Just commenting on this in a general way.

Yes, definitely comes in handy at least learning the basics, specially when dealing with tube amps.

Let me know how you like them once you do, id be interested to hear your opinion on them.

I just got in this pair of Rogers 6sn7gtb made in Canada. Great sounding tubes.

Here next to a Sylvania GTB of the same vintage 1958.

OK, an early NEW YEAR present for all....:gift::gift:🥂🥂:confetti_ball::confetti_ball::fireworks::fireworks:
Try these tubes if you havent yet.

MAZDA 30L1, 30L15, 30L17, these are all dual triode tubes and use the same adapter.
These were all made by Brimar

MAZDA 6L18, single triode tube. These might be made by Marconi.

...n MULLARD ECL80, a Triode-Pentode tube. Run as twin on Triode section or Strapped Triode on Pentode section..
Shown here are relabeled Lorenz...look for "B" code for Mullard production as Siemens also made this.

lastly, MULLARD ECH42, a Triode-Hexode tube. Again, run as twin on Triode section or Strapped Triode on Hexode section...whichever sound better to you. Again, there are Mullard, TFK, Siemens, Philips, etc....look for code to determine.

Kind Reminder: Always study the datasheet and understand what you are putting onto your amp. I take no responsibility if your amp blew up.

Enjoy and have fun!!!

Those are some great looking adapters. Are you able to switch between modes (triode, hexode) easily? Did you make them? Might want to put this in the single triode thread labeled reference 6j5.

Yes, the wires are detachable internally, wires soldered to female terminal pins...and sockets are interchangeable as long as they have the same size

Did you make those yourself?

Yes...lots of planning, sourcing and hard work
Below are some pictures to give you an idea if you are interested in making the adapters...

These are the TC wires....I used hollow aluminum knob, internal clip from another TC and insulated the clip from the knob with Teflon heat shrinking tube.
