I don't think you detected the kiddingness of my first post - I imagine the 50s Melz are better and was jokingly asking for somebody to sell me a pair. That being said, my response about the HD800 is dead on from my perspective as a testing instrument. Regards
You are entitled to your opinion, we used headphones that most of the members had available and the HD 800 was the most used at the time. We had already spent about $80k on tubes and other gear so we saved with HD 800 winning the vote on the headphones to use. Last time we tested DACS, we used all Focal Utopias. This is all blind testing and we went through thousands of tubes of various years and types. A group went through over 30 of my Melz tubes blind, we limited final testing to one of each type and what we call 1578's have did not change much in 40 years but the sound sure did. I detected the kiddingness but considering what some of the lesser Melz are going for, I prefer to hang onto what I own from the 50's, I believe I did give a 1953 or 1954 to @bcowen but he has shown me great generosity through the years.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165712220245 .

Per above link and detailed information, Does it have enough information to make decision to buy them? I'm new for tube info. Seller told me that he provides 1 month warranty. Thank you.

Just my personal opinion, I never bought from him before, but his prices are consistently higher than other tube dealers....I just use him as a reference to gauge how much is too much.

He does have alot of rarer toys though, probably for those that absolutely cannot wait and have a burning desire for that rare toy asap. Those tubes that I am familiar with, he seems to have legit stuff.

I'm looking for a paired Melz 1578. I found these two, but the first's price ( 450 USD ) is around twice of the second's ( 250 USD ) . Please suggest which one I should pick. Thank you.
Recently i bought 2 pairs from this seller on ebay, i liked the first pair so much so i purchased a second pair and they are legit Melz 1578. Built in either week 11 or November 1982. I posted some pictures on page 582 and they have been verified by @ColSaulTigh.

Thanks... VanHai. I also looked on these tubes and asked about it previously. I got feedback per link ( https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-reference-6sn7-thread.117677/post-17608979 ) If its sound is quite bright, I would like to skip them.

I've recently purchased a pair of Melz and would recommend him too.
Just bought one of these as a back up for my 1979s I got from Ukraine. While I'd love to get my hands on 1950s ones, the 79 are already my favorite tubes for 6SN7 sockets and ones I don't ever want to be without, so hopefully the others are as good. If the pins on these have been resoldered then even better!

I bought 2 pairs and they looked like Brand New, not sure about re-soldered, But they are dead quiet in both of my amps LTA MZ3 and Woo Wa22. Absolutely sound amazing with the amps.

What kind of tubes are they?
Normally the first digit(s) would be the year and the second two digits the week. So the 29th week of the year - July. The year could be 1955, 1965 (unlikely 1975) - sometimes the tube designation will help to determine the decade.

Probably 5692's, but could be 5691's as the two look almost identical externally.
