The Reference 6SN7 Thread

My first new production 6sn7 arrived today a Linlai Elite E 6sn7 credit where credit is due 7 days from ordering on AliExpress and shipping from China to the UK with multiple tracking and customs clearance updates along the way I think is excellent service.

Packaging was as pictured, on inspection the tube looks very nice quality.

Interestingly I was surprised to see that the tube base underside where the pins and center locator stub protrude from seems to be made of a ceramic material which is something I have not seen before.

Seller was BRZHFI

Have the same positive opinion of ordering tube gear from AliExpress to the US - arrived in a week's time with extensive communications about the tracking and well packaged.

Can I get a top five driver pick
With the Elrog TM’s
Best pick is still MELZ. Caveat: it helps to have a DHT DAC if you find a little too much energy. TM are more alike ER.

New to the game
DHT DAC?
I have a tube DAC the Lampizator Poseidon
I’m wondering the same thing- have not heard of a “DHT” dac before. What is it?

A tube DAC using Directly Heated Triodes (300B, 2A3, 845, 45, 801 ...)

You are set. Poseidon is a DHT. I would encourage you to read the various Lampi thread on WBF.

Often the MELZ 1578 can be too bright if also using extended tubes. And I can't sense your experience and reference line.

I use the MELZ 1578 as they're some of the most balanced with a great top end. I also use two DHT DACs and either run quad of ER/TM300B or 45 which offers a flexibility.
It will come down to your ear, chain and sensitivity. I've also run multiple MELZ from the pre > amp without issue.

Uh- I wouldn’t plug a DHT tube into a Poseidon as it’s designed for indirectly heated triodes. According to the manual its stock tubes are 6N1P and 6J5’s. If you want to get into the DHT world with Lampizator you’ll need models like the Big Seven, Golden Gate or Pacific.

I have the Feliks Envy AE and that’s enough tube rolling for me. I was given a set of Bendex tubes for the Poseidon with my purchase but haven’t gotten around to trying them
When you do push this over to the “Lampizator Tuning” thread and show us a pic! It’s good to see what people are using in their dacs and how they respond with their system.
