What about this grey-glass "Brimar" foreign tube:

What French manufacturer made 6SN7?
Based on what I read now it is possible that this tube was made by Visseaux. And the reason it looks like a US tube becomes clear:

Yep, they did make a great 6SN7 that was, you are most correct, just like the Sylvania types from at the time. Time being from 1948 and on, that is. Reason is in 1948 Visseaux established a technical collaboration with US-Sylvania and made many Sylvania types from that time on, including the 6SN7GT's. In 1966 the company was absorbed by the U.S. company ITT.

C 7 would date this tube March 1957.

I have a few Visseaux tubes - 6N7G and 6N7GT. They are very well made and sound good.

Pulled the trigger, even though I don't need more 6SN7... £30 inc postage
You will love these. Very unique sound, analogue and full bodied. Absolute treasures.

Went ape-schiit on that one. Weird how Mullard never made a 6SN7 tube. Maybe that's why it's so *SUPER* Rare - it's from outer space English Uzbekistan :joy:
Why is it that Mullard (or Telefunken) never got into the 6SN7 market? They were a fair widely used tube at the time, so it always seemed odd to me that they never really got on board (I do realize that Mullard did have some 6SN7-like tubes, but the specs are different enough (ie. way high heater current) I'd consider them different altogether)

Yeah a little strange especially considering Mullard did make a 6J5. And even though ECC33 and ECC32 are fairly close (and better imo...) those tubes might not work properly in a lot of amps designed for the 6SN7.

Does the ECC32 trend to a warmer sound? I was really surprised with the ECC33 because it's a lot more neutral than I expected, certainly brighter than the TS 6C8G / 6SN7 BGRP.
Yes, ECC32 and ECC31 are close in my view. Warmer than ECC33 which is the most transparent of them all. Of course, in my view ECC33 is the king and better than ECC31/32/35.
