The Qudelix-5K thread

Has anyone successfully replaced the battery on a Qudelix 5K? I can easily find instructions to open it, and multiple statements that it needs a 3.8V 682134 Li-ion battery, around 500 mAh, and that with a bit of plastic trimming it can be made to take a slightly larger 682434 battery. Everywhere that mentions this just suggests I search for that to find the battery -- yet all it ever finds are these pages saying this, and one or two sites selling batteries that don't actually seem to have the one I need.

Where can I buy a suitable battery?

I don't have an answer to this sorry, I just want to remind everyone if you enable battery charging limit to 80% and avoid discharging all the way down to zero, you will probably never have to replace the battery.

Are there any good leather cases for the 5k?

Seen the clear plastic one on the Qudelik website but it’s not great looking.

No, not to my knowledge, though honestly I just run it raw, since its not that expensive, and the plastic is quite durable already. And it being so small and light, its unlikely to get damaged really. But would certainly be nice if someone like Dignis made a nice option for it....

There are quite a few folks around here who commission custom leather cases for DAPs and dongle DACs. I'm sure you could get one made for the Qudelix pretty easily and relatively cheaply.

My experience as well. I've had one since close to launch. One of the springs on the clip is busted, but it's otherwise good-as-new (and it's been through tons of hard and unkind use over the years).

I think a Q5K case is more for avoiding to accidently push the buttons, at least that´s what the plastic one seems to be good for.

For protection, i agree, there is really no need for a case

I Agree +1000. When I lost my 3 year-old Qdelix on my bike commute two month, I went straight to buy a new one, and I took profit of the purchase to buy other stuff on hifi-passion.de. So I took a clear (silicon? ) case.
It was initially to protect the device at a marginal expense, and quickly I realized it solves one of the most irritating problems; these f...ing buttons put in the corners that get triggered for any reason when you're bending down with the 5k attached to your belt or your pant 😬
I've been pissed off too many times with the volume suddenly rising, and destroying my eardrums !
