Word.

Actually, I thought the tunes on the Matrix soundtrack sounded worse than they did on the artists' respective albums. Great soundtrack, one of those that really jump-started my music listening, but you really should just grab the albums of the artists you liked from the soundtrack.

I think the problem is board-wide right now. I'm getting the same problem, the tags aren't working randomly.

There is a thread about this in Members lounge. The tags are turned off right now due to a vulnerability with them.

I want to show them the light, I want to show them how incredible sound can be through headphones, I want them to know the TRUTH!!! What song do I play them?

Don't limit yourself to one.. I want the best of all types of genres.

For example for womens vocals there is a song on O' Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack called "Down to the River to Pray" If i'm not getting goosebumps while listening to this something is wrong. (note I'm not religious AT ALL).

What do you care what other people think?

I'm curious about the final result.... what did your friend(s) say?

And?

Anyway, I recommend something live because I find the in-the-head sound of headphones works nicely with live recordings, especially one were the crowd is involved with parts of the concert.

Play one of their favorite songs. Nothing's gonna be as impressive as something they're intimate with and all of a sudden your setup increases that degree of intimacy.

Otherwise Mrs. O' Leary's Cow from Brian Wilson's Smile (nominated for a grammy this year, one that actually deserves such a distinction).

For anyone recommending classical music, please recommend a recording. Classical music can be fantastic for showing off headphones, but it can also be not-so-fantastic. Generally speaking, the better recordings (performance-wise) are usually ADD, and were originally recorded using fairly sub-par equipment by today's standards. As a general suggestion, if you go classical, get anything that was recorded in the last ten years or so.

I always find it funny that people take such offense to audiophiles high end equipment. I am usually trying to gain their approval by showing them what the expensive stuff can do, but i say as a rule of thumb it won't work unless you let them play their favorite songs. If they can hear something in a song they didn't now existed prior then it will surely amaze them. I once had a roomate who was so angry at the fact that i spent so much money on a stereo that he refused to listen to it, he said he wouldn't hear a difference, so he wouldn't be bothered with it. god damn that pissed me off.

I don't buy that. But that's OK. You OUGHT to worry about what other people think to a degree, just as long as you don't loose sight of your own personal viewpoint. If you really didn't care what other people think, you might wind up living in a cave somewhere.
